Two more Kyler interceptions at his home stadium, both leading to Rams touchdowns and one coming at the goal line which undoubtedly took potential points off the board. The Cardinals now have committed 11 turnovers in their six home games, seven of which are Murray picks. You want to know why the Cardinals have struggled to a 3-3 home record? Adam Wainwright ranks second in franchise history in strikeouts, strikeouts per nine innings pitched and strikeout-to-walk ratio.
Lou Brock ranks second in franchise history in multiple career batting categories. The veteran was chosen NFC Defensive Player of the Month after making 5 1/2 sacks in three games. Vance Joseph has been the defensive coordinator all three seasons. They’ve combined to form a well-balanced unit that’s particularly good against the pass but also solid against the run. Arizona’s defense has been one of the league’s best through 12 weeks, allowing 18.4 points per game. It’s quite a turnaround for a group that was ranked among the NFL’s worst in 2019.

Notable players have defined, in part, the Cardinals' success and history. Stan Musial owns the most career batting records with 22. Rogers Hornsby owns the most single-season records with 11. Bob Gibson owns the most career pitching records with 18.
I wouldn’t be that worried about that side of the ball unless the carelessness strings together through a few games. If we’re trying to get into actually concerning things, it’s that DeAndre Hopkins and James Conner got dinged up at the end of the Cardinals’ loss. In seven road games, the Cards are plus-56 in the first quarter.

Tonight’s edition featured an errant pass from Kyler Murray on what would’ve been a touchdown, in addition to a fourth-down drop by one of the best wide receivers in the game in DeAndre Hopkins. Both players returned to practice on Wednesday, but they are the biggest question marks for a team that simply keeps on winning. Now fans in the Valley have to endure the doubters gleefully pointing to the national narrative that says the Cardinals aren’t ready to win big games yet.
But now they’ll need some help down the stretch to get that top spot. And that’s big, because finishing No. 2 or No. 3 likely means you have to go through both Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady in the playoffs, instead of just one. But unfortunately for the Cardinals, their record at home this season fell to 3-3 compared to their perfect 7-0 stretch away from State Farm Stadium. Coming into the contest, Arizona had an opportunity to be the first team in the NFL to clinch a playoff spot with a win that would also put one hand of the NFC West division crown. In 1901, owner Chris O'Brien acquired some used jerseys from the University of Chicago for the Normals. O'Brien believed that the jerseys had faded so much that they were more cardinal red than maroon, and changed the team's name to the Racine Cardinals. The team disbanded in 1906, but were refounded in 1913. The team did not play in 1918 due to World War I, but were refounded after the Armistice and have played continuously ever since. The team was a charter member of the American Professional Football Association, forerunner of the NFL, in 1920.

The Bears drove for late go-ahead touchdowns in losses to Pittsburgh and Baltimore. Murray said missing games for the first time in his NFL career has been tough, but there have been some benefits. He said watching from the sideline as backup quarterback Colt McCoy led the Cardinals over the past three games allowed him to see things up close from a different perspective. The Cardinals, sitting at 4-10 through Week 15, have been mathematically eliminated from the playoffs after a loss to the Broncos. Now that I’ve said that, I feel obligated to overreact and totally lose perspective here for a minute. Namely in the form of the turnovers that continue to plague the Cardinals at home.
No matter who they have suiting up or where they're playing, they continue to rack up wins. The NFC West-leading Cardinals will try to keep it going when they visit the struggling Chicago Bears on Sunday. Cardinals QB Colt McCoy is in concussion protocol after leaving in the third quarter of the team's Week 15 loss to the Broncos on Sunday. The Cardinals extended their losing streak to four games following their defeat at the hands of the Denver Broncos on Sunday.
Silver King owns the most single-season pitching records with nine. Arizona is now 3-3 at State Farm Stadium compared to a perfect 7-0 streak on the road this year. Granted, two of those losses were to the Packers and Rams — two probable playoff teams — but it was the way in which the Cardinals lost that is so frustrating. Aside from the turnovers, it’s the little missed plays that can determine the outcome of games.
It was also at least a yellow flag that Arizona’s pass-rush seemed sleepy all night. Los Angeles neutralized the outside linebackers especially, and it would take a smarter person than me to determine if that is a formula other teams can steal or just poor play on the Cardinals’ end. Arizona’s home woes could very well be coincidental, but at this point, the trend is glaring.
Never mind the fact they already beat LA once this year, and hammered the Titans, Browns and a few other playoff-bound teams. Their 0-2 record in prime time is going to get all the attention. And, right or wrong, they knew that was going to be the case.
